Support the Rey Cultural Center
Donate to the Rey Cultural Center's Annual Fund!
When Hans and Margret Rey arrived in Waterville Valley in 1958 they never dreamed that their personal legacy of promoting art, science and nature would live on through the programs offered at The Rey Center. Yet, today, that sense of curiosity and discovery draws residents and tourists to our exciting programs and events time and time again. That is why we are reaching out to you today to ask for your support in our 2019 Annual Fund Drive. Click here to learn more about our Annual Fund |
ARE YOU 70 1/2 OR OLDER DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO A CHARITY?
The protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 (PATH) made many taxpayer favorable provisions, which were set to expire, permanent. One of these is the provision which allows taxpayers who are 70 1/2 or older to make direct distributions from their IRA to a qualified charity. Qualifying distributions will not be treated as income. They will however be considered required minimum distributions (RMD).These distributions are capped at $100,000 per year. So why can this be important. While it would appear that having to reporting the income from a RMD and taking an itemized deduction from a subsequent donation to a charity would provide the same effect this is not true for many high income taxpayers (HIT) (The definition of HIT varies depending on numerous factors what tax provision is being discussed and tax filing status.) among the tax provisions that can be effected by the adjusted gross income (income before itemized deduction) is the phase out of itemized deduction and exemptions. The are numerous other provisions also effected by income without regard to itemized deduction. Those taxpayers considering making significant contributions to a charity need to discuss this situation with a qualified tax professional. Lend a Hand – Volunteer!
